Nordic Walking Guy came across some advice about the number of steps to take each day. The bottom line: "15,000 steps each day is the accurate amount you should be taking."
That number of steps is "about three hours a day or covering seven miles."
The good news, however, is "almost any amount of walking reduced a worker's chances of having a large waistline and other risk factors for heart disease."
How do you achieve that number of steps? Some suggestions from the linked article: "Consider taking a 20-minute walk before, after work, and during lunch. That way, you're getting fresh air three times a day, which is great for your mental health too, stepping away from work to just move. During the day, consider doing a 2-minute loop around your office or home every 30 minutes. Even walking up and down the stairs is a great way to get your steps in and work up a little bit of a sweat."
Keep in mind, Nordic walking can get you a lot of those steps in one session.
