Tracking your fitness and health

I signed up for a couple of fitness/health trackers to see how they work and whether they're useful.

I have a Garmin smartwatch and its website, Garmin Connect. I also signed up for MyFitnessPal because it synchs with Garmin Connect. Since I have a Samsung smartphone, I also have Samsung Health. I'll post periodically about my experiences.

My initial impressions is they each have features I like, but no one app does it all. Also, Samsung Health, which is compatible with a lot of devices isn't compatible with my Garmin devices.

Initial lesson - if you think you'll get a master app for tracking fitness and health, don't buy devices like smartphones and smart watches until you've selected the master app and determined what devices it works with. That way, data is uploaded automatically. For example, Samsung Health works with certain brands of glucose meters and bathroom scales, which would keep you from entering data manually.
