Learning how to Nordic walk without learning how to Nordic walk

Huh?

There's a concept called implicit learning where people learn complex things without being taught formally. For example, learning how to ride a bicycle happens without lectures and study. One just gets out to do it and keeps trying until achieving success.

How does this apply to Nordic walking? Beginners often get caught up in worrying whether they're doing it right and start to lose the arm/leg synchronization that's natural in regular walking.

Instead of agonizing over the learning curve and consciously trying to be perfect, just get out and walk. Maybe a starting point would be to drag the poles as you walk. Just enjoy the walk and take in the surroundings. When my beginning students do that, they naturally fall into a synchronized rhythm.
