Men, gaming, and exercise

An article relayed the results of a study that "Playing video games may lead college-aged men to exercise less and have poorer eating habits."

Someone might say we don't need a study to validate what we can see with our own eyes. However, it does help us understand the scope of the issue.

Key points:
  • "...those who played video games consumed more saturated fat and sodium than non-gamers."
  • "Gamers also consumed fewer fruits and vegetables and engaged in less physical activity than non-users."
There is already evidence a sedentary lifestyle can be detrimental. Since men already have a shorter lifespan than women, compounding the risk with activities that reinforce being sedentary can have grave consequences.
