study found that "Nordic Walking, examined in the field, results in a significant increase in oxygen use and caloric expenditure compared to regular walking, without significantly increasing perceived exertion
."
What they found for men and women:
Increased oxygen consumption over regular walking
Greater caloric expenditure than regular walking
Higher heart rate than regular walking.
